IMTS 2024: 6 demos showcasing advancements in industrial automation hardware & software technology

September 16, 2024 | Quinn Harker

This past week, Vention attended the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) for the second time. This show gathers creators, builders, sellers, and drivers of manufacturing technology to discover the latest innovations in manufacturing, robotics, automation, and digital transformation.

Following a suite of successful product announcements at Automate in May, we built on these releases to push innovation in automation hardware and software even further. With six demonstrations, two new collaborations, and multiple product releases, we showcased the latest technologies within the Manufacturing Automation Platform (MAP) that drive advancements across cloud robotics and artificial intelligence (AI).

Thank you to everyone who visited the Vention booth, met with the team, and shared your automation goals and challenges with us. It was a pleasure to demo the new releases and share more about our mission of democratizing industrial automation. Continue reading for a detailed look into the booth and the new advancements displayed that show.

It has been incredible to witness how IMTS has evolved over the years—from an event showcasing machine tools with ‘a little bit of robotics sprinkled in’ to one where robotics are now at the forefront, even serving as machine tools themselves. - Rob Hernandez, Director of Channels & Alliances, Vention

6 demonstrations showcasing the latest hardware & software innovations

MachineMotion AI

MachineMotion-AI-at-IMTS

The biggest product release at IMTS was the launch of MachineMotion AI. This third-generation automation controller powered by NVIDIA Jetson is ushering in the post-PLC era, where the divide between PLC and robot programming has been eliminated.

Now, all devices—whether PLC or robot—are programmed in the same environment with the same tools, benefiting from an accurate digital twin with embedded physics simulation.

Explore ABB’s line of GoFa cobots, which are now available within the Vention ecosystem. This demo features the ABB CRB15000 GoFa 5kg robot model within a Vention Automation Reference Frame Cell. With computer vision capabilities, the robot autonomously adapts to changes in the relative position of cell components during production. This ensures your operations are precise, reliable, and highly intelligent.

All of the GoFa cobots are fully compatible with the Manufacturing Automation Platform, so users can design, program, and deploy ABB cobots in the same environment as other robots, including Universal Robots and FANUC.
